Weaponness Valley Sports Village Project
Scarborough Athletic FC's way Back 2 Boro
Since the liquidation of Scarborough Football Club, and the founding of Scarborough Athletic FC, the new club has played it's football in Bridlington while Scarborough Borough Council has purchased the McCain Stadium and has formulated plans to bring senior football back to Scarborough.
The Back2Boro campaign was formed in November 2009 as a means to help the club raise awareness of it's plight of homelessness, and to raise a fund for use at a new site.
That new site has emerged as a new community stadium to be built as part of a community sports and leisure village at Weaponness. This section of the B2B site is devoted to that project, and we will attempt to bring full details of the site and its progress over the coming weeks and months.
At the time of writing (January 2011), the project was reaching an exciting stage as developers bid to win the contracts to build the leisure village. While some in Scarborough disbelieve the project will ever be completed, SAFC and the B2B committee remain 100% behind the project - a mindset borne from the factual documents contained within the history pages of this section - all of which point towards the project happening within the next few years.
As football in Scarborough enters a critical stage, you can keep up to date with occurences here.
