Scarborough Sports Village Update.

The following update has been kindly provided by SBC (Hilary Jones):

"Developments are at a crucial point and SBC are working closely with Sport England to review the detailed solutions. It is important to get this right and to have the development and financial model that will deliver what is required. Before going forward to final tender it has to be very clear that SBC have had all the dialogue needed with potential tenderers as dialogue will have to stop at that point. SBC are very hopeful that they will be successful in their funding bid from the ICONIC facilities pot.

Further to recent announcements regarding job losses and restructuring at Scarborough Borough Council whatever happens the Council is still totally committed to the Sports Village project and the work will continue with the project team. It may have a new lead but it will still forge ahead and the project will still be a key priority for the Council.

Whilst there have been delays, spare time was always built into the original programme. The Council will be meeting with both the Football Association and Sport England during week commencing 12 November in respect of our funding applications and following this the three remaining bidders will then be invited to submit final tenders.  It is still the aim of the Council to deliver football back to Scarborough for 2014, and we will know if this is possible once the final tenders are received in the first quarter of 2013."
