Ground Development Update Number 3

April 2012

"Further to recent communication with Hilary Jones ,Strategic Director at Scarborough Borough Council the Back2Boro group have managed to obtain the following brief update.

The development brief for the Weaponess site has been approved by the council and provides the guidelines in terms of what will be permissable to build on the site under plannning legialation.  The work to procure a partner company to undertake the actual development of the Sports Village is ongoing and the Council is in more involved dialogue with 3 potential bidders (submission of detailed solution stage due back end of May).  The Council hope to have appointed a contractor and moved to seeking  planning permission during winter 2012/13.

The Council have also  submitted funding bids to various national sporting bodies for funding to support the development, and for an Olympic Legacy swimming pool.  There has been positive feedback on all  so far so fingers crossed.  Work has started on site to undertake the required ground investigations and is moving along well.

If fans have any further questions please don’t hesitate to forward them to richard@back2boro.co.uk where they will be collated and forwarded on a regular basis whilst taking into account the workload and the priorities that the scheme requires.

We are grateful to Hilary Jones and Chris Bourne for their assistance."
