Sponsored walk brings in hundreds for B2B

June 2010

On Saturday April 24th the Supporters Club and Back2Boro committee held a sponsored walk at Queensgate before the clubs penultimate home game against Brodsworth.

The idea of a Back2Boro walk had first been aired almost a year ago, but finding ways to cover a symbolic 18 miles on actual roads proved extremely difficult. After much planning and calculating of distances it was decided to walk the 18 miles around the Queensgate pitch. It was worked out that 85 laps would be the equivalent to 18 miles.

The walk began at 8am and the weather was on side giving a lovely warm and calm day for the event. On the walk teams and individuals attempted the full 85 laps whilst other fans joined up for part of the walk or did an agreed number of laps. We are grateful to everyone who supported the event.

A special mention must be made of Gav Avison, Geoff Osguthorpe and Paul Stocks (who actually came all the way from Stockport especially to do the walk) as these three individually completed all 85 laps, a real achievement and wonderful support for the club and Back2Boro fund.

Sponsorship money has so far raised £606.20 and there are a few remaining sponsors still to pay in. All in all a really fantastic event by all those who walked. Thank you.
