Walking 192-miles for Back2Boro
May 2010
The 18-mile Back2Boro fundraiser before the Brodsworth match was a fine achievment for all those who took part, but for two intrepid Boro fans - it was treated as a gentle leg-stretcher before their 'main event'!
On 1st June, Scarborough Athletic FC fanzine editor Matt Lawson and Supporters Club committee member Ian Anderson will be taking on the 192-mile Coast to Coast walk which stretches from St. Bees on the Cumbrian coast to Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire.
The long distance trek, an innovation from the highly popular Alfred Wainwright, will take 11 days to complete and will take Matt and Ian over beautiful mountain summits and through deep valleys as they traverse the entire width of England.
At an average daily hike of just under 18 miles, it's no mean feat - but they're doing it all to raise money for Boro's Back2Boro scheme - which aims to raise awareness of the club's continued plight of playing, ironically, 18 miles down the coast in Bridlington.
